Training aims :

The development of sustainable agricultural and agri-food systems, ensuring the access of people to food in sufficient quantity and quality, the minimization of the ecological impact of commodity chains and the fair remuneration of producers, is a global challenge in the decades to come.

Some stakeholders in these systems, individuals and local authorities (companies, producer organizations, governmental entities, international organizations, civil society...), are trying to renew their strategies and practices. Technical and organizational innovations are appearing: conservation or high-tech agriculture, ecological intensification, eco-design, certification of social or environmental standards, changing governance patterns, relocation of agriculture and agri-food, development of direct-to-consumer sales, contract farming... These changes occur in an economic and social environment rendered more and more complex by the globalization of exchanges, the development of international standards and the strategies of multinational players. The aim of the Honour Master in Innovations and Policies for Sustainable Food (IPAD) is to continuously provide:



Admission requirement :

Recruitment based on application followed by an interview This year of specialization is open to: Professionals holding a French or Foreign Diploma of a BSc with 2 years' postgraduate study (Master’s degree, Master’s degree in engineering...) or a BSc with 1 year's postgraduate study, with at least three years of professional experience, in the fields of Life, Human or Social Sciences. Students (initial training) holding a Diploma of a BSc with 2 years' postgraduate study in the same areas. The Honour Master can be tailor-made over 4 years. Professionals willing to deepen their stamina can take modules separately.

Course structure :

 

Training is conducted over 12 months, from October to October, with:

- 18 weeks of common core curriculum
- A strand of specialization for a period of 6 weeks, chosen from the three proposed
areas above

This training period continually allows the comparison between the theoretical contribution of researchers
and the point of view of professionals. Training in the form of courses occupies a reduced number of
hours, leaving room for multiple tutored projects, carried out individually or in groups, as well as many
international meetings.

To apply the skills learned and respond to any request made by a public or private partner
in Worldwide.



Syllabus :

IPAD graduates will come across theoretical courses, seminars, business meetings, real work experiences to be competent to:

  • Identify, monitor and evaluate the relevant technological and organizational innovations, based on: - Knowledge about innovations and associated controversies,
    - Mastery of assessment methods for different types of impacts.
  • Act at a local or global level, by mobilizing their knowledge on:
    - Dynamics of standard and regulatory frameworks, the new regulation in international markets, 
    - Mechanisms of globalization and the determinants of relocation
    - Major stakeholder strategies new sets of public and private partnership…
  • Develop a capacity for strategic expertise and prospective analysis based on: 
    - Mastery of prospective and decision support tools, 
    - Capacity to analyse possible «future scenarios», in a context characterized by growing uncertainty,
    - Understanding the multisectoral dimension of the food crisis.
