About the Summer School

The Summer School is an intensive two-month programme that offers both French language courses and a discovery of French culture and agriculture.

An exclusive experience taking place from 1st July to 23rd August 2013, in Montpellier, well-known as a lively university town in South of France, rich for its cultural and historical heritage.

Programme Aims
To Whom?

Any non-native French speaking student ( CEFR standard levels A0 to B2 ) registered in a Master’s Degree, French Engineering Diploma or PhD programme at Montpellier SupAgro or at a partner institution, such as the Cluster for Higher Education & Research (PRES-UMSF, including the Universities of Montpellier 1, 2 & 3 and l’école de Chimie) or the consortium Agreenium (including AgroParisTech, Agrocampus Ouest, …)
 

A Tailor-made Programme

from 1st July to 26th July   from 29th July to 23rd August
80 hours of intensive French courses, a placement test is held on the first day to orientate the student to the group that suits them best and the course starts on the second day, classes are from Monday to Friday (except on bank holidays) in Montpellier SupAgro Campus La Gaillarde; training includes oral and written communication, grammar, vocabulary, writing and speaking, the focus is on innovative teaching methods such as interactive learning sessions (scenarios, workshops and cheese tasting wine, etc..)

• In groups of different proficiency levels (12 students maximum per group)
  3-week-long individual internship on a family farm in Southern France


 
Highly qualified teachers specialize in teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE)   A tailor-made internship relating to your study path
Outdoors activities including: Field visits and meetings with agricultural professionals: visit of a research center on fruits and vegetables (CTIFL), discovery of a French vineyard & wine cellars, wine tasting, etc.., trip in the region Cevennes (countryside), etc.   A debriefing of your experience after to completing the internship
Social, cultural and team building activities: rally in the city of Montpellier, Montpellier by night, cooking workshops and theater, wine & local gastronomy tasting, etc.    

 

Accommodation & Food

• You will live in the Montpellier SupAgro students residence, located on the campus, close to the center of the city. A brand new students residence in front of Montpellier SupAgro offers a range of studios and flats with all amenities. Accommodation at the Student residence "Les Hameaux” (fees & reservation please click here), all flats include a bathroom, bed, desk, table, kitchen, fridge…   • Accommodation and food are provided by the hosting French family farm, any particular arrangements for the housing and food depend on the internship and must be specified to the administrative staff
• The canteen of Montpellier SupAgro La Gaillarde Campus will remain open for lunch from Monday to Friday (except bank holidays) (further information, click here),   • During the workshop debriefing the internship experience, students are returning to the student residence and have access to the restaurant of Montpellier SupAgro La Gaillarde or La Valette Campus

 

Fees & How to Apply 

Registration fee: 1500€ including:

- An online French level test before arrival
- French courses in July
- Visits and meetings with agricultural professionals
- Social and cultural activities
- Three-week Internship

It does not include:

- Accommodation and food in Montpellier for July (around 400 €)
- Others (insurance, transports, etc)

Please note: Students of selected International study programs may benefit from financial assistance.
